The Performing Art Company was established in 2001. It integrates the core elements of four major performing arts—drama, dance, music, and acrobatics—and recruits members who are graduates of professional performing arts schools or have undergone long-term specialized training.
Rooted in the four traditional Chinese martial arts performance cultures—dragon, lion, drum, and martial arts—the group inherits the warrior spirit of Shaolin Kung Fu. By blending dance, music, folk arts, and drama (opera) with contemporary trends, it creates a new artistic style for the modern era. This fusion makes The Performing Art Company a unique performance troupe with a distinctive Chinese cultural identity in the age of multidisciplinary art.
Hung Ming Opera Troupe was founded in 1963 through the reorganization of Taipei’s Xin Yi Le Opera Troupe, the Hong Ming Opera Troupe is led by Wu Jinwang, a master in adapting traditional historical dramas ("Gu Ce Xi"). With the guidance of Professor Liu Nanfang in 2001, the troupe gradually gained artistic prominence.
In recent years, the troupe has been dedicated to preserving traditional opera and nurturing new talent, sparking innovation while staying rooted in tradition. Actively exploring indoor theater productions, Hong Ming revitalizes classical opera with fresh interpretations, attracting diverse audiences.
Recognized for excellence, the troupe was selected as one of Taipei’s Outstanding Performing Arts Groups in 2017, 2019, 2022, 2023, and 2024.
